The Real Power of AI
I had an idea for a small photography project, but lacked the technical skills to execute it. This article walks you through how I collaborated with ChatGPT to bring the project to life. I think it demonstrates how ChatGPT can be viewed as an extension of our own capabilities.
What’s really fascinating is how my interactions with AI tools have evolved. We’re all learning to use them more efficiently, moving beyond the basic “write me a cool story” type of prompts to something far more powerful.
I’ve started to better understand the strengths and limitations of tools like ChatGPT, and how to break tasks into smaller, manageable pieces that the AI can process effectively.
I had it re-create this table that I already had because I wanted the AI to understand the table on its own terms and so we could build out the table with the additional information that comes next.

With this I now had the After Effects Expressions that I needed to make this work. In After Effects I created a composition with the 25 images as layers. I pasted each of the 25 expressions that Chat GPT created into the corresponding layer in After Effects. Then all I had to do is make a shape layer and depending on where that layer's position was the correct image would display.
